Homeschool Classes

MUSIC APPRECIATION

High School level begins Jan. 10th Class will meet for one hour each week (11:30 to 12:30)

Class is limited to 6 students. Class cost is $180.

TEXT - Music, an appreciation, by Roger Kamien. CD's must accompany. Any edition will suffice.

Students will have a hands on approach to the history of music with a focus on listening and comprehension. Course is taught by Keith Sullivan who has taught this course at the collegiate level in Louisiana and Alabama. Students will be routinely tested and given a final exam (written and aural).

Last class will be held on May 8th

MUSIC THEORY

Begins Jan. 11th One hour per week (11:30 to 12:30).

Class is limited to 6 students. Class cost is $180.

TEXT - the text will be a series of workbooks published by the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music. These can be purchased at the Academy the first class day.

Students are encouraged to take the exam which offers certification from ABRSM. These exams are administered through the Academy, and successful students will receive a certificate from the London office.

All theory classes are taught by Keith Sullivan, who holds a master degree in Music Theory. He has taught this course at the collegiate level and is highly respected in his field. Please read his bio under the faculty heading to the right.

COMPOSITION

Composition classes will be added as needed. Usually limited to 2 students based on ability.

Students must have at least one year of music theory.
